Color in the City

It's our summer in San Francisco. The weather is awesome and we have been getting out. I have had my trusty camera with me and got some cool shots. Some of these shots were actually taken from a work assignment. 3 of us from work got to spend the entire day taking reference shots. It was great. We ran all over the Mission and then went through the Financial up to China town. I took 700 shots that day (over 6 gigs).

First The Mission with its gritty yet pretty streets and alleys.

This alley touched all of our senses (especially our sense of smell)

This turned out way better than I could ever hope

Almost all of these murals were found in one alley in The Mission

A Street Collage

Someone spent some time on this one

The No Loitering Sign makes this one for me

Luckily there were some How To signs posted for beginners

Cool!

Mixed Media

Missile Command Space Invaders and My Pretty Pony all in one

For Rent

This is an old theater in The Mission

We had lunch at La Taqueria

I had to get a people shot in while I was at it

This is right on the edge of The Financial heading into China Town

Same here

This was just being in the right place at the right time of day

Time to Shop as the clock says

An interesting mixture of East meets West

I liked the color in this one too

More China Town beauty

The other night I decided to go home and try to catch the sunset at this location. The sun sets behind you and all of the windows on Russian Hill reflect the light.

Walking home at sunset with a camera is slow going

I had to stop every 20 feet to take a picture

At sunset there is still light but the lights start coming on so you can catch cool things

Donna and I were waiting for a bus and I saw this going down. They were giving themselves tattoos. I think they were on something because I tried to be somewhat stealthy until I realized they were hyper focused on what they were doing. My guess is Meth. One of its traits is it makes you really focused on what you are doing. You can also see a scar or track on the guys inner arm from needles more than likely.

Hope that last picture didn't bum you out. It is some of the color we get here in the city.

Thanks for stopping by,

Jon and Donna

Why we do what we do

This past month has answered that question for me at least. We work really hard to enjoy the time that we don't work really hard. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was a lot of work but this month has paid me back. Work is really great right now. The project is going well and things are calm. There is also the possibility of working on a 2nd project that is very interesting. Oh and we are also celebrating the launch of the game. It launched last night at midnight. The demo broke the record for fastest to a million downloads on Xbox live which is great. We also have a launch party tomorrow night at a hip club in the city. We are looking forward to that.

The month has also paid me back by giving me great weather to enjoy a great city. On with the pics (as the kids say).

We went to the Autumn Moon Festival in China Town and I went camera happy
I like umbrellas in the sun

He sells shoes down by the shoe store

They moved the Dim Sum makers to the windows for the festival

When you have balloons you should not look panicked (unless they are floating away with your child attached to them

A stressful game of Mahjong

I think she is on to me and my photographic ways

This has cool color, cool lighting and a bonus mirror so you can look at it twice

This must be commissioned right?

I like signs

I saw this looking out of the Chinese Museum

The F Line is one of the coolest trolleys in the world

We went to the Chihuly show at the De Young, it was amazingly cool

It's funny that I mention that the weather has been nice and then I go and post a ton of pictures of the indoors. The next post will have more of the city.

See ya soon,

Jon and Donna
