Cherry Blossom Festival in Japan Town

San Francisco goes festival crazy when spring rolls around. There can be multiple festivals and events to choose from each week. We really enjoyed the Cherry Blossom Festival last year so we went again this year. The weather was very nice (for even Southern California snobs) so we headed on over with the rest of the city.

Vendors lure customers by chanting and clapping

Spiky hair is quite popular with the youths

These 2 set up and played Beatles songs

This guy or gal didn't set up and didn't play Beatles songs

They had an Origami display. Kids and adults folded paper into many things (even Tie Fighters (Not Pictured))

Dragons were very popular

They also had a paper doll exhibit. They were highly detailed and not entirely paper I suspect.

We camped out in one of the ballrooms in the hotel as they alternated musical recitals and dance recitals.

This is one of the dance recitals

And some music. They played Kotos

Kotos lined up against the wall

More Koto playing. They had to be tuned specially for each song.

That's it for now. Check back soon.
