Look what I saw today!
San Francisco CA 2010 Fort Point
Today we went to Fort Point to see the sights normally there as well as the Civil War festivities going on. Right now the tide is very high so the waves were hitting high on the jetty and crashing onto the road and parking lot. Every once in a while a big wave would come and get groups of people walking along the road wet. It caught people by surprise. I took a few pictures of a new BMW that happened to be parked in "The Splash Zone".
Here is from another angle with the big orange bridge in the background.
I was entertained so I thought I would share.......

Scottsdale AZ 2004 Some Cool Tiki Bar
On this day in 2004 Donna and I were vacationing in the Phoenix AZ area. We happened across this cool Tiki Bar and went in for a small drink. You can't see it but the middle section is lit on fire.

Newport Beach CA Cappy's Cafe
On this day we went surfing in the morning and then found out that 3 out of 4 emergency room workers recommend Bloody Marys for breakfast. In all fairness I am sure they worked the graveyard shift (woops that sounds morbid) at the Hoag Emergency Room and were heading home after a good breakfast and cocktail.

Irvine CA 2004 Point of View Inc.
On this day in 2004 the EA sign came down and the Point of View Sign went up. We were growing and needed a bigger office so we sublet the EA office because they had just left it to build up EA LA. Sadly Point of View is no more as of late 2009. I wonder if the sign has come down yet.... Anyone still drive by there?

Newport Beach CA Cappy's Cafe
On this day in 2004 Tom, Tony and I had just finished surfing and were having a nice breakfast before work (breakfast is the most important meal of the day). Cappy's was one of our favorite places to go to eat breakfast. Great staff, great food and nice lighting.

Look what I saw today!
San Francisco CA Nob Hill/Tenderloin
It's been pretty rainy in The City recently so I have not taken very many pictures but tonight we decided to go down to The Tenderloin for some Pho' and then go to a place called Rye for a cocktail. The Pho was awesome and the cocktails were average at best. 2 of the images I took though were well worth the trip.

I was excited to get home after seeing this in the preview window on my camera. It turned out very nice.

On this day Larry did his Pirate Parrot impression. It looks better when he has the feathers and beak on, but this was a spontaneous impression and I caught it on film.

On this day in 2008 Donna and I wanted a fancy breakfast. We went to Cafe Majestic which is a somewhat fancy hotel near us. It was an excellent breakfast. Going to breakfast at a hotel makes you feel like you are on vacation. You should try it.

Orange CA 2003 The Game Room
On this day in 2003 I was hanging out in the game room taking pictures. I am glad I did because all of this great stuff you see and more is in a storage unit in Santa Ana. I can't wait to take it out when I have room for it all again. It will be a great day. I will have another epic Video Game Party soon after that day.

The Computer History Museum is Awesome
Mountain View CA 01/09/10 The Computer History Museum
Over the weekend Donna and I got a rental car and headed down to Mountain View to go to the Computer History Museum. We specifically went to see the Babbage's Difference Engine #2. The Difference Engine #1 is the "computer" that drives many thoughts in science fiction about alternate realities that would exist if the Difference Engine was built and used and where technology would be now if we went the analog route rather than the digital route. We thought our visit was going to be watching the Difference Engine working and then 20 minutes of looking at other things but there was so much to see and all of it was so cool we ended up spending much more time there than we thought we would.
This gear let's the operator know how many turns it takes to do one complete calculation. It takes 4 turns of the handle to get the gear to go all the way around once and complete 1 calculation.
They had a giant warehouse chock full of old computers and computing devices. This is the first wall you are greeted with as you enter.
I liked the colors on this calculator. Imagine having to use something like that in your every day job. Was carpal tunnel an issue back in the day?
This is a closeup of a front panel on one of the computers. You really have to know the ins and outs to work this thing.

On this day in 2005 we came home to BB holes in our front window. No one was hurt and we assume it was just a prank because I am not in a gang. We took photos to send to the insurance company but I ended up just getting it replaced without using insurance.

On this day in 2006 myself, Jon S (not the same Jon S as me) and a few others from work went to the Arrowhead Pond to see an LA Kings game. It's always fun to see the Kings in Anaheim. The times I have gone there have been more Kings fans than Ducks fans.

On this day in 2005 Donna took me to a Lacrosse game to see The Anaheim Storm. It was loads of fun. It's a lot like hockey except they run around instead of skate and carry a ball in a net instead of control a puck with a stick. When I explain it, it really sounds nothing like Hockey.

On this day in 2004 I was on the NASA website looking at Mars photos in 3-D! It was an exciting time. What would we see? Martians? A Yeti? Big Foot? Water? Nope just rocks at that time but still cool. They were million dollar Mars Rocks. My plan was to reach into my monitor and nab the rocks and then sell them on Ebay. The plan didn't work.....
