One A Day - On This Day in 2008

San Francisco CA The Independent

On this day we saw Beck in a tiny club. It was an awesome show. One of my friends at work tipped me off that he would be playing there and I hit the website hard when the tickets went on sale. I was lucky enough to get a pair.

One A Day - On This Day in 2009

San Francisco CA Down Town Civic Center

On this day in 2009 we were at the main branch library. I was walking around taking pictures when I saw this commotion outside. There was a broken water main that caused some flooding and traffic problems. Luckily we were walking...

One A Day - On This Day in 2004

Orange CA

On this day in 2004 we received this flier with an interesting offer. Take a loot at it and see if you can see it. If you can't (or don't feel like playing along) scroll down for the answer.

0% off Birthday Party! What an amazing deal. Needless to say we booked our next 10 birthdays before they had a chance to retract the offer.

One A Day - On This Day in 2002

Irvine CA Point of View Inc.

On this day in 2002 The Dart was loaded with boards. We had just gotten back from surfing before work and I decided to snap a shot with the doors and trunk open. It was a fun car but I don't miss the "I'm going to die in a car accident" feeling I got when I drove it.

One A Day - On This Day in 2009

The Presidio CA Letterman Digital Arts Center (LDAC)

On this day in 2009 I took a striking photo of one of the buildings at LDAC where I work. George has leased the land where the Letterman Hospital used to be and built 4 of the most environmentally efficient buildings with the hope to attract digital art companies (his and others) to this location. With the economy the way it is right now a lot of the space is empty.

One A Day - On This Day in 2007

San Francisco CA Lombard St. (the famous twisty part not the practical part)

On this day in 2007 I took a shot of the famous Lombard Street. It shows the twisty part in all of it's normal glory. Most photos of this street show it's beauty with maybe one lone car coming down but the reality is that on the weekends the line to drive this section of road blocks traffic (close to my neighborhood) all day long. People wait in line for close to an hour just to drive down it slowly. If you want to see Lombard Street (the twisty part not the practical part) walk it don't drive it.

One A Day - On This Day in 2007

The Presidio CA Presidio Bowl

On this day in 2007 we went to The Presidio Bowl for Jeff's birthday (happy birthday Jeff). Here you can see Leslie and Crystal teaching their son how to bowl. It was a really fun day. Thanks for putting it together Jeff.

One A Day - On This Day in 2007

San Francisco CA The Lumiere Theater

On this day in 2007 Donna and I went to the San Francisco premier of The King of Kong. It was being presented by the director. It is a great documentary about people trying to get the Donkey Kong high score. If you look closely you will see Billy Mitchel on the left. He is prominently featured in this film as the villain who will do anything to retain the high score. A week ago my post featured Billy in real life years before this film was made. If you haven't seen it I am sure you will like it if you read my blog.

One A Day - On This Day in 2008

San Francisco CA Ocean Beach

On this day we took a trip to Ocean Beach and saw the Camera Obscura. It was really cool. The area is beautiful as well. I highly recommend this trip to anyone who is into photography or looking at cool things.

One A Day - On This Day in 2009

San Francisco CA The San Francisco Bay

On this day in 2009 Donna and I were taking the ferry over to Sausalito to go to dinner with friends. It was a nice ferry ride and an even nicer dinner with very nice company.

One A Day - On This Day in 2004

Orange CA

On this day in 2004 Donna and I found a few cool bike trails in Orange. We were riding them for the first time and we came across this little playground. I took a reflection picture. In the reflection you can see my very first digital camera.

One A Day - On This Day in 2003

Costa Mesa CA Wing Nuts

On this day in 2003 we were celebrating MiMi's first last day at Point of View. It was fun. These types of pictures aren't the ones where you say wow...... unless you are in them. This was a close knit group of guys working 7 days a week on a project and now they are all spread out over the world. I miss you all.

One A Day - On This Day in 2003

Irvine CA Curry House

On this day in 2003 The Curry House was having a contest. They asked that we submit a Curry Smile photo. I'm not exactly sure what a Curry Smile is but I took a photo of what I thought it was.

Chuck is showing off his famous Curry Smile while Chang looks at something more intersting.

One A Day - On This Day in 2005

Irvine CA Point of View Inc.

On this day in 2005 we brought Paul Darden in for a voice over session. Paul is on the right. He is a somewhat famous poker player. John and Paul were discussing something on the couch in my office as I listened on from my desk and also took this photo.

One A Day - Not really on this day

Los Angeles CA E3 1999

In 1999 I got to go to my first E3. My friend got Donna and I in and it was a blast. I had no idea that the following year I would be attending E3 on my own pass. E3 is sensory overload. I picked this shot because it shows the Sega Dreamcast set up. For many the Dreamcast is known for being an incredible system that had too short of a life. The death of the Dreamcast marked the end of Sega's Hardware days.

Look what I saw today!

San Francisco CA Russian Hill

When I walk home on Hyde I walk by this park. Every time I see it I think, "Mini Park, is that a small park or a place to park a mini?" Well today it was both and I had my camera.

One A Day - On This Day in 2004

Irvine CA

On this day in 2004 I saw a parked truck. There is nothing really strange about a parked truck until you see where it is parked. This truck is strangely parked. I wondered how it got like that. Was it a prank? Were they afraid the truck was going to be stolen?

One A Day - On This Day in 2009

San Francisco CA China Town

On this day in 2009 Donna and I went deep into China Town to see a friends band play. The venue was a basement in a China Town bar. It was fun.

One A Day - On This Day in 2007

San Francisco CA

On this day in 2007 I saw this sign. I always wonder if the sticker prevented anyone from going to the circus. I thought it was pretty funny. There are many other examples of these types of things at Hacked IRL. I am considering sending this in to them...

One A Day - On This Day in 2007

Somewhere between San Francisco and Half Moon Bay

On this day in 2007 our apartment needed to be shown to some potential building buyers and they knew we had 2 dogs but they didn't know we had 2 cats so I had to go for a drive with the cats during the 4 hour window that they could visit. Fox isn't a very good car rider so he whined and panted and threw up. It was the least relaxing drive to the coast I have ever had.

One A Day - On This Day in 2003

Las Vegas NV The Hard Rock Hotel

On this day in 2003 we were having breakfast at the Hard Rock Casino and then heading home. It was bittersweet. Breakfast in Vegas is always great, leaving Las Vegas usually sucks. I don't think I have ever stayed in Vegas too long. This is a shot of a Low Rider Bike at The Pink Taco. We like eating breakfast at Lucky's Cafe.

One A Day - On This Day in 2005

Irvine CA Point of View Inc.

On this day in 2005 Bryan brought his kittens to work. They cuted it up as you would expect kittens to do.

One A Day - On This Day in 2003

Las Vegas NV Classic Gaming Expo

On this day in 2003 Donna and I were still in Las Vegas. They had a classic gaming museum with a lot of cool stuff to look at. Out of all of the cool things I chose to post a picture of an Asteroids costume... This piece of history just shows how big video games were back then. Asteroids was so popular that some kid wanted to dress up as an asteroid for Halloween. Not the guy in the space ship shooting the asteroids, not the triangular space ship (which is arguably the star of the game) but the asteroid. Here's your candy crater face.

One A Day - On This Day in 2003

Las Vegas NV Classic Gaming Expo

On this day in 2003 Donna and I were at the Classic Gaming Expo in Las Vegas. It is one of my favorite conventions. There are many things to buy, many games to play and lots of famous people to see (well famous to me). In this photo you can see a bearded man. His name is Billy Mitchell and he is the best Pac-Man player in the world and once of the best Donkey Kong players in the world. Remember his perfect beard because there will be another post featuring him this month but it will be from the future (at least compared to when this was taken).

One A Day - On This Day in 2003

Las Vegas NV Bellagio

On this day in 2003 we were in Vegas at the Bellagio and we saw O. It's a great show within a lovely theater. This is a shot looking up at the ceiling.

One A Day - On This Day in 2005

Orange CA Our House

On this day in 2005 Tom was on high alert. I think Mom and Oma were arriving and he wanted to be there to say hi or to bark if it wasn't someone he knew.

One A Day - On This Day in 2006

Orange CA Our House

On this day Larry was enjoying his synthetic pig ear on his pink dot. Our house has a room with green indoor outdoor carpet so we bought some pink dot carpets at Ikea to liven things up.

One A Day - On This Day in 2006

Orange CA Our House

On this day in 2006 we took photos of Donna's latest knitting project. She has the skillz. Once the projects are done they are sent to friends and family for enjoyment.

One A Day - Not really on this day

Anaheim CA Disneyland

Back just before The Country Bear Jamboree closed I decided to take photos with some of my bear friends that I had spend much time with. The welcomed me into their band when they heard my awesome jug skills. Even to this day I can always look back and say, "thank God I'm a Country Bear".

One A Day - On This Day in 2004

Irvine CA

On this day Tony and I went to the local snack mart and I snapped a shot on the way back. This may have been the first time I rode backwards on a skateboard and took a *picture.

*No photographers were hurt in the taking of this photo.

One A Day - On This Day in 2008

San Francisco CA San Francisco Main Library

On this day in 2008 Donna wanted to go to the library so I took my camera. I took a bunch of pictures because it is a cool place. This one turned out pretty cool.

One A Day - On This Day in 2007

San Francisco CA Palace of Fine Arts

On this day in 2007 Jeff got a new camera so we went out at lunch to try it out. I had my camera too. His goal was to take some good photos and my goal was to take pictures of people taking pictures. This was one of the better picture taking poses.
