What happens in SF gets put on my blog...Family Visit

San Francisco CA

A few weeks ago Sharon (Donna's Sister) visited us. We spent a nice weekend exploring the city and eating its fine food. Here are some photos from the visit.

Both Sharon and Donna close their eyes when photos are taken. It's in their genes. Luckily my 11 years in the Tech Industry has allowed me to meet some of the best digital artists around and one of them was able to quickly make some adjustments to this so that their eyes appear open. Keep in mind this is an altered photo when looking at it. It's amazing what we can do with computers these days.

Here is a shot of Donna and Sharon on the Golden Gate Bridge in the wind. I used my Lensbaby.

Another Lensbaby shot.

And another shot with the Lensbaby.

I was Lensbaby crazy.

Crissy Field in a dream.

China Town was ready for the Chinese New Year

Donna and Sharon took some time to do some shopping in China Town

Just before Sharon's flight we took her to the Irish Bank and she had a nice Ice Tea in a San Jose Sharks Glass.

One A Day - On This Day in 2004

Seal Beach CA Leisure World

On this day Larry (our dog) played Uno with our nephew Josh. Larry was no match for Josh in the best of 3 match and so Josh advanced to the next round and Larry was left with only thoughts of what could have been and that the Uno cards were not completely edible.

On this day in 2006 I was on a business trip to Seattle to visit Microsoft and Nintendo. We were heading home but we had half a day to site see so we went to the Space Needle and ran into Becca, Josh and my Mom. What an amazing coincidence!

Orange CA Our House

On this day in 2004 Josh played Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade on our Hanaho Mame Machine. I don't think Oma approved of the cartoon violence.

Orange CA Our House

On this day in 2003 Josh learned how to play Robotron: 2084. It's a lot tougher than most of the games he is used to playing. He enjoyed it. He also enjoys playing the Mario Brothers Machine. Sadly these machines don't fit in our apartment in San Francisco so they are sitting in a storage unit in Santa Ana.

One A Day - On This Day in 2006

Seal Beach CA 2006 Cookie's Fortune

On this day in 2006 we visited Mom in Leasure World. Jenna and Eric and Josh were also visiting from Idaho. It's fun to get together with a fun family and you can see by the expression on Jenna's face. I hope that expression didn't leak any beverage out the nose. You have to time your drinking carefully when you are out with this bunch.

One A Day - On this day in 2007

San Francisco CA 2007

Jenna, Eric and Josh visited us in 2007. We showed the around and even took them to our favorite Dim Sum place in China Town. Josh wasn't very fond of the food because it was so different. He took a bit of Pork Bun and then spit it out and accused us of trying to make him throw up. He cheered up for the cable car ride though.

Nebraska Family Reunion Part 1

So here it is! The first of the Nebraska posts.

Donna and I went to Nebraska to the Lindgren 2009 family reunion. I am a big fan of traveling and when I can take pictures it's even better. My only thoughts about Nebraska before this trip were created when I drove through the western portion as a junior high school student. Flat and boring were what came to mind. I had forgotten that anything that had sitting involved in Jr. High was considered boring. After visiting I now know that Nebraska is a very nice place to visit in the summer.

We arrived at the Airport in Omaha and I found this great landmark right away. As we were taking this picture I knew it would be the photo that kicked off this blog post.

We stopped in downtown Omaha and had lunch at a place right on the Missouri River. The red umbrellas covering the picnic tables got my attention.

We made the drive to Laurel NE and made it just in time to meet with family at one of the local churches. I was drawn to some of the lighting fixtures.

Andrea was not camera shy at all. I think I ended up with about 4 gigs of photos of her alone. She was always up to something cute.

Here is a row of mailboxes outside our condo.

We kicked off the family reunion right. They had about an hours worth of amazingly dangerouse fireworks. At dusk the kids started off with sparklers which I found photogenic.

No one was hurt (very much).

More sparkler action.

Paul had a Mickey Mouse Lightsaber. I found this intersting because the 2 large companies I have worked for are The Walt Disney Co. and LucasFilm Ltd.

The next day we drove to South Dakota to visit The National Music Museum.

Paul used an old PDA to snap photos of the cool instruments.

This museum was packed with all kinds of instruments.

Organ!

This whas their Johnny Cash exhibit.

I am often trying to take pictures that I think would make a good desktop image. Here is one that I had in mind.

The musuem had more harmonicas than I knew existed.

Of course I had to take an artsy shot of Donna.

This was a cool statuette in the lobby.

Here is a shot of an old barn on the farm that we visited every day.

Here is a shot of the mailbox that is associated with the farm.

The farm house is very old and there is plenty of room to keep things around. The National Geographic collection went back to the early 1900s.

That's it for now. I still have quite a few more Nebraska photos so I will get more up shortly.
